February 8, 2010 - USMTC News Release for December Manufacturing Technology Consumption

December U.S. manufacturing technology consumption totaled $219.60 million, according to AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology, and AMTDA, the American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association.  This total, as reported by companies participating in the USMTC program, was up 22.9% from November but down 5.7% from the total of $232.93 million reported for December 2008.  With a year-to-date total of  $1,771.91 million, 2009 is down 60.4% compared with 2008. (more)

President Obama unveiled his small business financing plan this week at a town hall meeting in Nashua, New Hampshire. AMT Board member Tim Dining, President & CEO of Greenerd Press and Machine Company, had the extraordinary opportunity to introduce the President. The Administration also released its FY 2011 budget blueprint and a new National Export Initiative while Senate Democrats haggled over their jobs bill. (more)

AMT Joins 40 Organizations in Calling for Reinstatement of Investment Incentives

Forty-one national organizations have signed a letter to President Obama and Congress urging reinstatement of the Recovery Act's depreciation bonus and increased Sec. 179 expensing provisions that expired at the end of 2009. AMT, together with the Associated Equipment Distributors, spearheaded the effort. (more)

AMT Announcement Regarding B11 Activity

AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology has made the decision to no longer continue its role as the Standards Development Organization (SDO) for the B11 series of standards. The association is in the process of refocusing its efforts in order to enhance its support to members in areas of more pressing concern and greatest impact on our membership. (more)
